YouTube Music now offers personalized playlists called My Mix, which is similar to Spotify’s Daily Mixes.
Both Spotify and Apple Music have offered personal playlists for years. Now, YouTube Music plans to follow them. With this new feature, YouTube Music could attract more subscribers to the app.
Engadget reports that YouTube Music tailors its playlists to your mood and activities. After that, you can go to your app’s Home screen to see seven My Mix playlists. This feature is similar to Spotify’s Daily Mix playlists. Like Spotify’s Daily Mix, YouTube Music’s My Mix playlists also refresh daily.
Each of the seven My Mix playlists contains hours of music from a diverse set of artists. These playlists also include both your old favorites and new songs that the app thinks you will enjoy. If you want to see a giant playlist covering each My Mix, you can open My Supermix that holds all their songs. Earlier, the app called this playlist Your Mix.
At the home screen, you’ll also see several tabs that refer to your moods and activities. These tabs include “workout,” “focus,” “relax,” and “commute.” If you tap one of these, you’ll see more custom playlists. The app would even recommend more music to you. You’ll also find more supermixes for these tabs. Moreover, you can also find supermixes by genre.
Spotify has made its money with personalized playlists and recommendations. Now, YouTube Music seems to have learned its lesson.

The company adds that they want to add more features to YouTube Music. In the future, YouTube said YouTube Music Premium users can still listen to music even after closing the app.
If you’re using an Android TV, you can go to your library to play your music uploads. You’ll also see a new interface that would show you the artist’s name and a playback progress bar. If your device has an Android TV home screen, your YouTube Music app will have a new row to make your browsing easier.
YouTube Music is now two years old. Since its 2018 launch, the app has updated the service several times on several platforms. One recent update includes the ability for free users to cast music to speakers. Another is the ability for Google Music users to transfer songs to YouTube Music.
YouTube Music will soon replace Google Music, so you can expect more changes to come.
