With a wide variety of cable and streaming services available, sports fans might have trouble knowing where to watch their teams play. Some channels may carry a delayed broadcast, while streaming might show a live feed. Luckily for fans, Google is rolling out a new Google Search feature to help find live games.
If you’re an NBA or MLB fan, you could just type in your request in the Google Search bar. Type “where to watch the Lakers game today,” and Google will give you a list of TV channels hosting the live game. Even just a general query like “Mets game” and Google would still tell you where to watch it through a “Live on” button.
In the Gizmodo report, Google says the service is only available for the MLB and NBA for now. The company does plan to add more pro sports leagues to the service in the future. While Google Search only shows available TV broadcasts now, the company also says it plans to add digital viewing options.

In 2019, Google had rolled out a recommendation tool for Search. With this tool, a simple “what to watch” search can get recommendations for several movies or TV shows. Now, the company is also adding live TV shows from cable and broadcast providers to the tool.
A simple “what to watch” or “good shows to watch” query will also reveal options for live and streaming shows. If you’re planning a night of binge-watching, you could even check which of these shows are “On TV now” or “On TV later.”
With this update, Google hopes to bring content to everyone’s homes.

Google Chrome wants to get rid of its reputation as a battery hog. With a new update, Google is now letting the browser switch to battery-saving mode. This new mode allows users to maximize their time on Chrome, such as long virtual meetings and surfing.
According to Endgadget, Google Chrome is now letting websites switch to an energy-saving mode. With this mode turned on, users will see reduced framerates on sites, slow down scripts, or tone down performance. Chrome can also react to low battery states, and users can also adjust the feature according to their preference.

— Engadget (@engadget) August 16, 2020
Another Endgadget report says that Google Chrome’s battery-saving mode will close unneeded Javascript timers and trackers while a tab is active in the background. Google says that this mode will extend devices’ battery life by 2 hours.
However, substantial activities such as playing YouTube videos can reduce the time gained to 36 minutes. But still, the test shows gains. If Google succeeds, it can close the battery life gap between Chrome and other browsers like Apple’s Safari. As of now, Safari remains ahead of Chrome.
The Windows Club guesses that Chrome’s new feature wants to give users confidence in using the browser when they reach low battery levels.
If you spend a lot of time on resource-hogging websites, you would want to conserve your battery power. You’d need this feature, too, if your job requires you to do web research and join online meetings from to time.
This new battery feature is still in the trial phase, and users need to wait before using it. However, this feature could change the game for Google Chrome.

Google doesn’t seem to be stopping with new updates anytime soon. To help frustrated travelers during COVID-19, Google is updating Google Travel. The latest update will give the app new tools that inform travelers about the pandemic situation in certain places.
The Verge reports that Google Travel will now give users crucial COVID-19 information to help them plan their trips. Before leaving for your destination, Google Travel will tell you the number of COVID-19 cases there, as well as hotels that allow free cancellations.
Google Travel adds new pandemic-related travel planning information https://t.co/NQz4HEe2gO pic.twitter.com/gfbotJLJKC
— The Verge (@verge) August 14, 2020
Google Travel will also give you “travel trends,” which refer to data about open hotels and available flights to your destination. To collect these travel trends, the app uses your data from past hotel and flight bookings. With travel trends, it will always update you on current trip advisories. These advisories also join updates on local case numbers in the app’s new alerts.
The app will alert you on COVID-19 news when you search for flights, hotels, or rentals. Another new option for the app is the option to see whether you can get free refunds from your hotel reservations. You can even set a “free refund” filter on your Travel searches to help you manage your bookings.
If you urgently need to travel during COVID-19, you will need all the help you can get. Ease your health and travel worries with Travel’s new additions. Check it out here.

It looks like Apple is stepping beyond hardware. Along with the new iPhones, Apple will release subscription bundles in the fall. The packages cover nearly every Apple service.
Gizmodo reports that Apple’s subscription bundles would be called Apple One. If you subscribe to Apple One, you’ll get a choice of tiers, starting from the Basic level, which includes Apple Music and Apple TV+. Once you go higher, you’ll also have Apple Arcade. Even higher than that, and you’ll have Apple News+, and then on the next tier, you’ll get extra iCloud storage space.
Moreover, Bloomberg also says that Apple might be including a virtual fitness service in Apple One. In the report, this subscription covers the iPhone, iPad, and Apple TV. Right now, the service goes by the codename “Seymour.”
So it looks like Apple is launching subscription bundleshttps://t.co/qm7w6eUJgm pic.twitter.com/LzAnJNjDdG
— Gizmodo (@Gizmodo) August 13, 2020
Similar to other subscription services, Apple will allow groups of users to enjoy Apple One. Apple already provides Family subscriptions to Apple Music, and now Apple One users can add six other members to their plan through Family Sharing.
With Family Sharing, users can save up to $5 a month, according to Bloomberg.
In 2019, Apple had staged an event where it announced a series of new services, including the Apple Card, Apple TV+, Apple Arcade, and Apple News+. Also, 9to5Mac discovered code referring to a “bundle offer” or “bundle subscription” in iOS 13.5.5.
Bloomberg adds that Apple’s bundle services may extend to hardware. For example, if you buy an Apple TV, you could get a free year’s subscription to Apple Arcade.
With Apple One, the company seems to want to tie all of its services together under one package.

Math homework won’t get any simpler with remote learning, but Google hopes to give students some peace of mind. As part of its remote learning updates, Google plans to let students solve math problems by taking a photo with Google Lens.
In May, Google had launched an augmented reality (AR) feature in Search to let students look at 3D versions of cell structures and anatomy models.
Similar to its Search AR feature, Google wants Lens to help students solve complex math problems. With the new Google Lens, students can just scan their textbooks and snap a photo of the problem that’s stumping them. After taking the picture, Lens would start explaining how to solve the problem.
Engadget says the idea behind Lens is to help students look up difficult math concepts so that they can solve hard equations. Math problems rely on specific concepts for their answers. If students can grasp these concepts, they can solve these problems quickly.

— Engadget (@engadget) August 12, 2020
For Lens, Google is using tech made by Socratic, a mobile learning app Google acquired in 2019. Google didn’t say when it will roll out the new feature.
Google said it has also added about 100 STEM-related 3D models for students on Search. Students can search for things like the “quantum mechanical model,” and they will see the whole thing.
Moreover, Google also announced a slew of more features for remote learning. The company is enabling live captions for Google Meet. Students at home can also use Family Bell to alert them when their online classes start and when to take a break.

General Motors, a 111-year old carmaker company, revealed their brand new product, but this time it is not a traditional Cadillac car. And now, they are set to gear towards being a seller of EVs, a market currently dominated by Elon Musk-led Tesla.
Three years ago, GM first unveiled their plans of launching 20 new electric vehicles by 2023, per The Verge. And finally, they announced last Thursday their first attempt for their commitment of going to “an all-electric future,” with a brand new SUV from Cadillac that is fully electric.
Promising to go “beyond 300 miles” in terms of EV range on a single-charge, the 2023 Cadillac Lyriq also boasts of an enormous 33-inch curved LED screen in its interior. The first GM-made EV will also take a page from Tesla’s playbook by having a feature that could park on its own–and even get out of parking!–even without someone inside.
Moreover, the latest version of GM’s semi-autonomous driving system called Super Cruise will be included with the Lyriq. With Super Cruise, drivers may not hold the steering wheel during long travels on major roads. Meanwhile, the exterior will have an advanced lighting technology.
Production of the midsize crossover will start in 2022. There is no price tag attached to the model yet. However, GM mentioned it would compete with its peers in the luxury SUVs club, including gasoline-fueled ones. It will be first sold in China, where the EV market is huge. The US will then follow shortly after.
During a news conference, president of Cadillac, Steve Carlisle, said: “It marks a turning point for the brand, a pivot for the brand, an opportunity to regain momentum and position the Cadillac brand for its next chapter.”
The automaker intends to shift the Cadillac brand into an all-electric vehicle by the end of the decade. Lyriq is just the beginning in GM’s plans of expanding their electric vehicle plans. They also intend to push for EV selling globally.
“Lyriq is the cornerstone upon which we are going to build the future,” Carlisle said. He also mentioned, “Our goal is to lead. No excuses, no apologies.”

Google is releasing updates to Android phones that run Android 6 and above before Android 11 comes out. These updates should be helpful to Android users.
To tide users over before the launch of Android 11, Google is enhancing current services. Android Auto users can now see calendar events along with road directions. With this new update, users don’t have to switch between apps while driving, just to see their scheduled events.
Users can now also tap on Android Auto to call someone. They don’t have to look up their phonebook while driving. Moreover, Google’s update to Android Auto gives people more control over their infotainment display.
Google's latest Android update is great news if you're afraid of earthquakeshttps://t.co/nXjnW9cf0Y pic.twitter.com/eA5jqGQ4Ty
— Gizmodo (@Gizmodo) August 11, 2020
With this new update, Google is scaling Bedtime mode to all Android phones. Previously, only Pixel owners could use the feature. Bedtime mode allows users to disable notifications after a specific time, or set bedtime reminders for YouTube. With Bedtime mode, users can also play soothing songs from YouTube Music or Spotify to help them fall asleep.
When users wake up, Google’s Sunrise Alarm will help wake them up gently. The screen will slowly get brighter and gradually turn from orange to yellow. Users can access these new features through a tab in the Google Clock app.
If you face an emergency, you can now use Android’s Emergency Locations Service (ELS) to help you communicate better with first responders. The expanded ELS service calls emergency personnel according to your phone’s language settings. If you’re in another country, ELS will tell the first responders that they need a translator.
Android users can now use these new features. Android Auto users will have to wait for later this month.

If you’re still not convinced that password managers work, maybe this new LastPass feature can convince you to use one. A new update allows LastPass to alert you if any of the websites you signed up for got breached. Moreover, the app will warn you if any of your passwords got leaked. This tool is part of LastPass’ new security dashboard.
According to the Verge, LastPass’ new dashboard uses a “dark web monitoring tool” to check your logins and passwords. This tool checks your data if it appears on Enzoic’s database, which LastPass has partnered with since 2017.
Once the tool finds your data in the database, LastPass will notify you on the security dashboard and then email you. In the alert, the app will show you which site got breached and will give you time to change your password.
https://twitter.com/verge/status/1291164360665190401?s=20
The alert system is available only to paid LastPass subscribers. However, free users will be able to use the security dashboard. This dashboard will tell you which of your passwords are weak, reused, or in danger. Moreover, this dashboard replaces LastPass’s old Security Challenge, which used to recommend changing your risky passwords. The difference is that users had to launch the app every time to run the Security Challenge.
LastPass users can expect the security dashboard to arrive on desktop and mobile in the coming weeks. Apple will also launch password monitoring on its Safari web browser, coming out with iOS 14 and macOS Big Sur.

Android phones get all the fun these days as leaked documents appear to show Google’s plans for Pixel to develop foldable smartphones. The leak also seems to confirm older rumors of Google trying out foldable devices. According to the report, Google plans to create foldable versions of its Pixel, and a couple of other devices.
The website 9to5Google got access to the internal Android document. After reviewing, the site found that Google is planning to launch Android builds for its phones, from the Pixel 4a, 4a 5G, and the 5. The leak also reveals plans for a new Google phone 5a, codenamed “barbette.”
Other codenames in the document are “raven,” “oriole,” and “passport.” The 9to5Google report suspects that “raven” and “oriole” might be plans for the Pixel 6. However, the same report said that codename “passport” refers clearly to a foldable phone.
In the document, Google labeled all three possible models as “Q4 2021,” which could mean Google’s foldable phone is nearly ready for launch.

In 2019, Google already revealed plans to create foldable smartphones. Mario Queiroz told CNET that the company is trying out foldable phones, but are not hurrying to put it on the market. Queiroz leads the development team.
In the past week, Google has announced a flurry of news. The company has released the budget model Pixel 4a. However, it also stopped production of the previous phones. Along with this news came teasers on the new 4a (5G) and the Pixel 5. An error on the Google France blog may have also leaked possible news on the Pixel 5 to arrive on October 8.
