Nathan ‘Reaiming’ Miller Rising from Ash to Aiming For More Success

Nathan Miller, popularly known as Reaiming, is an American gamer, streamer, and social media personality. He is best known for sharing encouraging words and giving positive advice to his huge online community. Nathan ‘Reaiming’ Miller is determined to show his followers and the whole world that you can get past any setback, no matter how severe, and forge a new path to success.

Before his rising popularity online, Nathan Miller battled and overcame drug addiction and served a ten-month jail sentence at eighteen years old. He has since been clean, free of drugs for over three years, and ventured into his passion in gaming and streaming.

Nathan has carved out his name in the gaming world. He is mostly streaming his games and tearing up lobbies in his favorite seasons on Apex Legends and The Halo Series gaming platforms. He streams as the first-person shooter in the two platforms and has had countless victories. The American gamer boasts a whooping over 61,000 kills and counts as a protagonist for Lifeline’s Apex Legend gaming season.

His countless wins have landed him a spot in the top 100 players among almost 100 million players worldwide. Moreover, Miller is one of the best 5 Halo gaming series Guardian players in the world. He holds the top 200 positions in the three different playlists, namely; Free-For-All, Slayer, and Swat.

Nathan regularly streams the gaming series Halo: The Master Chief Collection. However, he aims to play in the next Halo gaming series, Halo: Infinite and be at the top of the board. He has plans to stream full time and immerse himself completely into the competition to bag the title. He affirms that he will move forward to realize his dreams and that people will know the name ‘Reaiming’ after his showcase playing the game.

Definitely, Reaiming is set for success as his past results from the Apex Legends gaming series have proven his amazing skills. He mostly recounts that when he was broke, he used to pay the bills by playing inApex Legends gaming online tournaments, which led to his success in gaming streaming and content creation.

The streamer previously streamed his gaming at Mixer. He had garnered a community of five thousand followers on the platform. However, he moved to a different platform, Twitch, when Mixer shut down their streaming site. He mostly keeps abreast with new games sharing with his online community what to expect in new editions. For instance, he wrote about a new map, The New Legend Horizon, and The Nostalgic Return of R99 for season seven of the Apex Legends game.

As a content creator and streamer, Reaiming is focused on creating a cohesive online community. He has created a community for his followers known as Dub City, which keeps attracting new followers. His fans have an opportunity to chat with him directly and access his streams. He has other incentives on his platform, such as extending his streaming time and entertaining his fans by cracking a few beers for the stream and his popular quick Drop it Low.

Nathan Reaiming Miller

Besides, as someone who has turned their life around, he has utilized the platform to spread love and pour positive messages to his fans, urging them to put in their efforts and overcome any obstacles they are facing. He believes that one’s past does not necessarily determine who one is befitting his name ‘Reaiming’. Therefore, he pushes himself and wants those around him to keep doing their best and aim a little higher.

Reaming has stretched his growing community on social media and has amassed over 32 thousand followers on his Instagram account and even more on YouTube. He said that he created the platforms to support his fans and members. In one of his Instagram posts, Nathan ‘Reaiming’ Miller said,

“I don’t stream for numbers, I don’t post for followers, I do what I do, in the end, show everyone that regardless of what situation you’re in, you can succeed.”

Beyond his online endeavors and grind, Nathan is a captain and works for the management of the Morituri eSports team. Mostly, he collaborates with other members in gaming, holding tournaments and facilitating giveaways, and much more.

Moreover, he sells his own Reaiming merchandise, which has paused during the COVID-19 but promises to be back soon. In 2019, he launched his Reaiming sweatshirt with his classic mantras written on the back.

He is also an investor. However, when it comes to investments, he does not share ideas on stocks. He says that he does not recommend stocks because he believes that personal decisions are something that people should make based on their own research.

As Nathan ‘Reaiming’ Miller continues to aim for success in the rare field, it is no doubt that he has great potential in the gaming scene through streaming and content creation. He has defied odds and proven that a setback, major or minor, is purely what you make of it. His drive, passion, and refined skills set him aside from other gamers and content creators. He is a force to reckon with.

If Twitter’s dark mode has recently changed for you, you’re not alone

The feeling of opening Twitter and noticing that something’s off probably isn’t a new one, but it usually isn’t related to the site’s color scheme. Yet some users (and Verge staff) are now seeing that Twitter’s desktop dark mode has gotten darker, or worse, been changed to light mode.

Twitter tells The Verge that the change from blue to black was intentional — it’s part of an update to make the Twitter website respond to the light and dark modes on your OS. Of course, if you miss the dark blue, you can bring it back by going to Twitter’s display settings and choosing Dim mode (instead of the inky black Lights Out or the bright Default), and the site should remember that preference.

If your Twitter switched from dark mode to light, though, the company says that wasn’t supposed to happen. That was caused by a bug, and could’ve happened to you if you had Twitter set to Dim or Lights Out mode but had your OS in light mode. Head to your display settings to change that back, if you want.

While you’re there, you can also choose an accent color, if you’re tired of blue.

CD Project Red has warned players that installing Cyberpunk 2077 mods or custom save files on the PC could pose a security risk (via Kotaku). According to the company’s tweet, there’s apparently a “vulnerability in external DLL files the game uses which can be used to execute code on PCs.” The game’s official mod tools were just released last week.

The company warns users not to install files from unknown sources, though as Kotaku points out, that pretty much rules out all mods unless you can read and understand their code. When you’re dealing with a vulnerability that could potentially lead to arbitrary code running on your computer, it’s probably best not to risk it until a fix is available.

This isn’t the first problem CD Projekt Red has faced with the Cyberpunk mod system — the company also had to ask players to stop installing mods that allowed them to have sex with Keanu Reeves’s character.

Amazon’s Ring now reportedly partners with more than 2,000 US police and fire departments

All but two US states — Montana and Wyoming— now have police or fire departments participating in Amazon’s Ring network, which lets law enforcement ask users for footage from their Ring security cameras to assist with investigations, the Financial Times reported, Figures from Ring show more than 1,189 departments joined the program in 2020 for a total of 2,014. That’s up sharply from 703 departments in 2019 and just 40 in 2018.

The FT reports that local law enforcement departments on the platform asked for Ring videos for a total of more than 22,335 incidents in 2020. The disclosure data from Ring also shows that law enforcement made some 1,900 requests — such as subpoenas, search warrants, and court orders— for footage or data from Ring cameras even after the device owner has denied the request. Amazon complied with such requests 57 percent of the time, its figures show, down from 68 percent in 2019.

Privacy advocates have raised concerns about how Ring data is used by and made available to law enforcement. Ring’s Neighbors app, which allows Ring users to share videos with others nearby has been criticized for containing racist comments and reports. And a report from NBC News last February found that Ring footage wasn’t all that helpful for solving crimes. When it was useful, the Ring footage was mostly used for low-level non-violent property crimes (like the theft of a Nintendo Switch).

Ring began adding support for end-to-end encryption on its cameras earlier this month.

G.I. Joe’s Fortnite collaboration includes a Snake Eyes skin and action figure

With all of its recent licensed characters, which includes everyone from Sarah Connor to The Mandalorian, the virtual battlefield of Fortnite is starting to resemble a playground full of action figures. When you think about it like that, a collaboration with G.I. Joe makes a lot of sense. With that in mind, Epic and Hasbro announced that iconic character Snake Eyes will be available as part of the Fortnite universe starting today — both in-game and as a physical toy.

The new version of the character is called Snake Eyes: Zero Point edition, an allusion to a key part of Fortnite lore (one which took on more significance this season). The in-game version will be available starting on January 30th for 1,800 V-bucks, while a 6-inch-tall action figure is also available to preorder for $39.99 via Hasbro Pulse. Hasbro says that the figure will feature accessories inspired by “the rich history of the Snake Eyes character” as well as a few that will be familiar to Fortnite fans, like the classic Boogie Bomb.

There have already been plenty of toys and figures based on Fortnite’s original characters, of course, but this collaboration hints at something different, as licensing deals become a bigger part of the battle royale. Next stop, metaverse.

Nvidia’s GeForce Now comes to Chrome browsers and M1 Macs

Nvidia’s GeForce Now game streaming service has launched for the Chrome web browser and M1 Macs in beta (via XDA-Developers), bringing resource-intensive games to laptops and other devices that might not have been powerful to run them on their own. We just tested out the Chrome browser version on a Mac and a Windows 10 PC, and it seems to be running smoothly.

GeForce Now already had applications for Windows 10 and Android devices, but expanded to an even wider audience with a beta launch for Chromebooks in August of 2020, and followed it up by beating Stadia to iOS devices with a web app workaround that lets you stream games through the Safari web browser there.

Geforce

Nvidia’s GeForce Now running in Chrome on macOS:

Now, theoretically, anyone with a Chrome browser can start streaming by heading GeForce Now’s site and creating an account, even on a weak laptop. Or, if you’re on a new M1 Mac, according to release notes for this new version of GeForce Now, through a new dedicated application. Nvidia’s changelog also lists a few other changes to make the service more useful in a browser, like the ability to create dedicated shortcuts for your games and a new way to share links that can send your friend directly to a game.

Like Google Stadia and Amazon Luna, GeForce Now is essentially a PC in the cloud that you “rent” to stream your games. You can play with a mouse and keyboard, a gamepad, even a wireless headset — all of them worked for us seamlessly in Chrome. It is worth noting Microsoft Edge isn’t currently supported, even though it’s a Chromium browser now. Of course, you’ll need to be in a region where GeForce Now is available.

geforce nivdia
What you’ll see if you try to launch in Microsoft Edge.

GeForce Now’s expansion hasn’t been all sunshine and roses. The service has Steam integration, so you can unlock PC games you might already own to stream via the service, but not all games work because developers have to opt-in. Many of them weren’t too happy with Nvidia because GeForce Now let players stream their games without permission (and let Nvidia profit off a monthly membership). And though its rival Google Stadia has a smaller library of even more tightly curated games, it can often offer a clearer picture and higher resolution than Nvidia does right now.

The full list of devices GeForce Now supports is available here. GeForce Now will also come to LG TVs in 2021.

Despite Chrome, Nvidia is still recommending the native app “for the best experience”

Welcome to Twitter, Jon Stewart

jon stewart

Jon Stewart has just joined Twitter, and is now the proud owner of a verified account. And, of course, his first tweet was about the redditors on r/WallStreetBets and their stonks.

While it may be the first time he’s made an appearance on Twitter, Stewart is already fitting right in — with a profile picture that’s not actually of him, but a dog.

Fellow late-night commentator Stephen Colbert jumped in to welcome him to the platform, giving Stewart a quote tweet hours before his account was verified.

In his second tweet, Stewart thanked everyone for the warm welcome, but says he only plans to use Twitter in a “sporadic and ineffective manner.” (Opposed to the rest of us, who use it constantly and ineffectively.)

It’s unclear what the future holds for Stewart on Twitter. Will he use it to promote his upcoming return to television with his Apple TV show? Will he actually say the word “stonks”? Whatever his plan is, it’ll be seen by a large audience — he’s racked up more than 120,000 followers in the nearly five hours since he first tweeted.

From all of us here at The Verge: welcome to Twitter.

r/WallStreetBets went private — and now it’s back with a message

The r/WallStreetBets subreddit’s own moderators made it private for a little less than an hour on Wednesday evening, Reddit confirmed to The Verge — but now, it’s back, with a new post from the moderators themselves that doesn’t quite explain why it vanished in the first place. The subreddit has seen a significant increase in attention in recent days following the meteoric rise in GameStop’s stock driven in part by traders on the forum.

“We have grown to the kind of size we only dreamed of in the time it takes to get a bad nights sleep,” reads a new post from the mods, one which you can read in its entirety at the bottom of this post in case it disappears. “We’ve got so many comments and submissions that we can’t possibly even read them all, let alone act on them as moderators,” the post continues, addressing how the community has also been banned from Discord and how they believe Reddit’s tools are insufficient to moderate bad behavior.

The post also points to a Twitter account, @wsbmod, which is intended to be the official voice of the moderator team in the future.

During the time the subreddit was private, there were a few different messages shown to visitors. When I checked the subreddit at 7:06PM ET, I saw this message:

We are experiencing technical difficulties based on unprecedented scale as a result of the newfound interest in WSB. We are unable to ensure Reddit’s content policy and the WSB rules are enforceable without a technology platform that can support automation of this enforcement. WSB will be back.

WallStreetBets reddit page

Before that, the page showed this message: “WallStreetBets is under in tents load and is only for approved submitters. In the meantime, please enjoy some spaghetti,” followed by a link to a NSFW video of a man putting spaghetti all over his body.

reddit front page

And when the r/WallStreetBets was first made private, the message read, “like 4Chan found a Bloomberg Terminal,” which was the description of the subreddit previous to it being made private.

bommberg terminal

Mysteriously, some people claimed they lost their existing access to r/WallStreetBets when it went private:

Earlier on Wednesday, Discord banned the r/WallStreetBets server. The company said that the Discord was banned for “continuing to allow hateful and discriminatory content after repeated warnings.” Many posts on the subreddit contain offensive language.

Here is the full post from the r/WallStreetBets moderators:

We have grown to the kind of size we only dreamed of in the time it takes to get a bad nights sleep. We’ve got so many comments and submissions that we can’t possibly even read them all, let alone act on them as moderators. We wrote software to do most of the moderation for us but that software isn’t allowed to read the Reddit new feed fast enough and submit responses, and the admins haven’t given us special access despite asking for it.

We’re suffering from success and our Discord was the first casualty. You know as well as I do that if you gather 250k people in one spot someone is going to say something that makes you look bad. That room was golden and the people that run it are awesome. We blocked all bad words with a bot, which should be enough, but apparently if someone can say a bad word with weird unicode icelandic characters and someone can screenshot it you don’t get to hang out with your friends anymore. Discord did us dirty and I am not impressed with them destroying our community instead of stepping in with the wrench we may have needed to fix things, especially after we got over 1,000 server boosts. That is pretty unethical.

To add to this, people are co-opting our name on twitter. I won’t mention their accounts, but lots of handles with “wsb” and “wallstreetbets” in them are pretending to speak for us. They’re saying things that we don’t agree with, driving traffic to derivative communities and shitty pixelated merch stores, and generally making it harder for us to define who we are. There’s also too much political bullshit in a community that was never ever political. The only way I want to occupy Wall St is in a suit myself or rent-free in the mind of a blown up short.

That is why I’m throwing my support behind the Twitter handle in general. We need a way to PUBLICLY reach out to the staff of the infrastructure that is failing us so the world can see that we aren’t doing anything wrong here if they don’t respond. We need to be able to respond directly to a reporter that is lying to the world about our clubhouse. We can’t be expected to meet any expectations when we aren’t given the tools we need.

That’s not to say I approve of every message or will even be in the loop for all of them, but it’s clear to me we can’t do nothing and we need a megaphone.

http://twitter.com/wsbmod aka @wsbmod is the only Twitter handle whose statements are directly from some part of the team.

We’ll do our best not to pretend to speak for you, but to try to speak with the volume our name now seems to command to get shit done for us.

Update January 27th, 8:01PM ET: r/WallStreetBets has reopened, with a message from a moderator, which we have added.

Samsung is expanding its Health Monitor app to 31 new countries, including 28 European countries, and people in those countries will be able to use the app with a Galaxy Watch 3 or Galaxy Active 2 smartwatch to take electrocardiogram (EKG) and blood pressure readings.

Samsung says the app was granted a CE marking in December, which means that it complies with applicable regulations in Europe and can be offered in the European Economic Area.

Here is the full list of countries in Europe that will soon be able to get the app: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and the UK. It will also be available in Chile, Indonesia, and the United Arab Emirates soon.

To be able to take an EKG or blood pressure measurement, you’ll need to have the Samsung Health Monitor app installed on your Galaxy smartphone and on a Galaxy Watch 3 or Galaxy Active 2. Samsung says the app update that enables the features will begin rolling out on February 4th, though the company notes that availability “may vary by market and carrier.”

Apple introduced the ability to take an EKG with the Apple Watch Series 4 in 2018, though Apple Watches still can’t natively track blood pressure.

Someone has gotten their hands on a database full of Facebook users’ phone numbers, and is now selling that data using a Telegram bot, according to a report by Motherboard. The security researcher who found this vulnerability, Alon Gal, says that the person who runs the bot claims to have the information of 533 million users, which came from a Facebook vulnerability that was patched in 2019.

With many databases, some amount of technical skill is required to find any useful data. And there often has to be an interaction between the person with the database and the person trying to get information out of it, as the database’s “owner” isn’t going to just give someone else all that valuable data. Making a Telegram bot, however, solves both of these issues.

The bot allows someone to do two things: if they have a person’s Facebook user ID, they can find that person’s phone number, and if they have a person’s phone number they can find their Facebook user ID. Though, of course, actually getting access to the information you’re looking for costs money — unlocking a piece of information, like a phone number or Facebook ID, costs one credit, which the person behind the bot is selling for $20. There’s also bulk pricing available, with 10,000 credits selling for $5,000, according to the Motherboard report.

The bot has been running since at least January 12, 2021, according to screenshots posted by Gal, but the data it provides access to is from 2019. That’s relatively old, but people don’t change phone numbers that often. It’s especially embarrassing for Facebook as it historically collected phone numbers from people including users who were turning on two-factor authentication.

At the moment it’s unknown if Motherboard or security researchers have contacted Telegram to try to get the bot taken down, but hopefully it’s something that can be clamped down on soon. That’s not to paint too rosy a picture, though — the data is still out there on the web, and it’s resurfaced a couple of times since it was initially scraped in 2019. I’m just hoping that the easy access will be cut off.
