Hulu is now the latest streaming service to lose Fox regional sports networks, joining both YouTube TV and Fubo TV.
First, it was YouTube. Now it’s Hulu. Starting on Friday, Fox regional sports programming will leave Hulu. If your live TV plans support Fox sports, you won’t see these games anymore.
Gizmodo reports that live TV Hulu subscribers could still access sports content from different networks. However, they would lose dozens of Fox regional sports networks. The service says you can still get your sports fix from ESPN, TBS, TNT, FS1, FS2, Fox, CBS, NBC, and ABC on Hulu’s support page. You would just lose content from these Fox networks:

You might have to look at other streaming services if your favorite network is on this list.
Last month, YouTube TV also lost support for Fox regional sports networks. Meanwhile, another sports streaming service, FuboTV, lost support for the same Fox networks earlier this year. However, the service did pick up ESPN programming.
The Sinclair company owns Fox. Regarding YouTube, Barry Faber said that both Sinclair and YouTube had discussed plans to return Fox sports channels to YouTube TV. Faber is Sinclair’s president of distribution and network relations.
This week, Faber also said that Hulu refused to accept Sinclair’s offer to continue streaming regional sports networks.

Gizmodo reports that YouTube’s deal with Sinclair Broadcast Group is already expiring. Without the deal, YouTube TV couldn’t broadcast sports games anymore. YouTube TV had announced the situation in a post on its Twitter support page.

Starting October 1, you couldn’t stream content from Fox regional sports channels on YouTube TV. Moreover, YouTube added that even DVR content from these networks would disappear.
In an email to Gizmodo, YouTube said that TV users wouldn’t be able to watch live games, on-demand sports, or recorded sports content. So, even sports analysis shows might disappear from YouTube TV.
Both YouTube and Sinclair might have reached an eleventh-hour deal to keep sports on YouTube TV. They were still talking on Wednesday. However, that window might have closed now.
So, if you want to keep streaming live sports, you might have to look at cheaper options. Just a few years ago, YouTube TV cost $35 a month. Now, it costs $65.
Gizmodo also notes that streaming services always lose content. For example, a slew of Netflix content leaves the service every month. However, for sports fans who follow regional channels, they have limited options.
YouTube TV had allowed them to watch every sport they wanted with just one subscription. Meanwhile, other sports streaming services charge them extra for DVR and other perks. Other services also offer additional bonuses at a premium.

With a wide variety of cable and streaming services available, sports fans might have trouble knowing where to watch their teams play. Some channels may carry a delayed broadcast, while streaming might show a live feed. Luckily for fans, Google is rolling out a new Google Search feature to help find live games.
If you’re an NBA or MLB fan, you could just type in your request in the Google Search bar. Type “where to watch the Lakers game today,” and Google will give you a list of TV channels hosting the live game. Even just a general query like “Mets game” and Google would still tell you where to watch it through a “Live on” button.
In the Gizmodo report, Google says the service is only available for the MLB and NBA for now. The company does plan to add more pro sports leagues to the service in the future. While Google Search only shows available TV broadcasts now, the company also says it plans to add digital viewing options.

In 2019, Google had rolled out a recommendation tool for Search. With this tool, a simple “what to watch” search can get recommendations for several movies or TV shows. Now, the company is also adding live TV shows from cable and broadcast providers to the tool.
A simple “what to watch” or “good shows to watch” query will also reveal options for live and streaming shows. If you’re planning a night of binge-watching, you could even check which of these shows are “On TV now” or “On TV later.”
With this update, Google hopes to bring content to everyone’s homes.
