Google is releasing updates to Android phones that run Android 6 and above before Android 11 comes out. These updates should be helpful to Android users. 

New Updates for Android: Android Auto

To tide users over before the launch of Android 11, Google is enhancing current services. Android Auto users can now see calendar events along with road directions. With this new update, users don’t have to switch between apps while driving, just to see their scheduled events.

Users can now also tap on Android Auto to call someone. They don’t have to look up their phonebook while driving. Moreover, Google’s update to Android Auto gives people more control over their infotainment display.

New Updates for Android: Bedtime Mode

With this new update, Google is scaling Bedtime mode to all Android phones. Previously, only Pixel owners could use the feature. Bedtime mode allows users to disable notifications after a specific time, or set bedtime reminders for YouTube. With Bedtime mode, users can also play soothing songs from YouTube Music or Spotify to help them fall asleep. 

When users wake up, Google’s Sunrise Alarm will help wake them up gently. The screen will slowly get brighter and gradually turn from orange to yellow. Users can access these new features through a tab in the Google Clock app.

New Updates for Android: Emergency Services

If you face an emergency, you can now use Android’s Emergency Locations Service (ELS) to help you communicate better with first responders. The expanded ELS service calls emergency personnel according to your phone’s language settings. If you’re in another country, ELS will tell the first responders that they need a translator.

Android users can now use these new features. Android Auto users will have to wait for later this month.

Android phones get all the fun these days as leaked documents appear to show Google’s plans for Pixel to develop foldable smartphones. The leak also seems to confirm older rumors of Google trying out foldable devices. According to the report, Google plans to create foldable versions of its Pixel, and a couple of other devices.

Google’s Plans: Foldable Phone

The website 9to5Google got access to the internal Android document. After reviewing, the site found that Google is planning to launch Android builds for its phones, from the Pixel 4a, 4a 5G, and the 5. The leak also reveals plans for a new Google phone 5a, codenamed “barbette.” 

Other codenames in the document are “raven,” “oriole,” and “passport.” The 9to5Google report suspects that “raven” and “oriole” might be plans for the Pixel 6. However, the same report said that codename “passport” refers clearly to a foldable phone. 

In the document, Google labeled all three possible models as “Q4 2021,” which could mean Google’s foldable phone is nearly ready for launch.

Google’s Foldable Pixel Phone

In 2019, Google already revealed plans to create foldable smartphones. Mario Queiroz told CNET that the company is trying out foldable phones, but are not hurrying to put it on the market. Queiroz leads the development team. 

Google’s Busy Week

In the past week, Google has announced a flurry of news. The company has released the budget model Pixel 4a. However, it also stopped production of the previous phones. Along with this news came teasers on the new 4a (5G) and the Pixel 5. An error on the Google France blog may have also leaked possible news on the Pixel 5 to arrive on October 8.
